Everyone has their own path to entrepreneurship

In recent years, I have been asked many times:
Is it possible to learn entrepreneurship or need to be born with it?
Why and how do people get infected by entrepreneurship?
What is needed to become an entrepreneur?
All these questions are rhetorical, for each questioner already had his personal opinion on this matter and, asking the question, either wanted to establish himself in his own right, or to debate if my point of view, as they say, was at odds. Everyone has their own way, their own motives and their own innate or acquired abilities. But there is a lot in common, which economists say is natural. This is what I propose to talk about today.
The first reason why people come to entrepreneurship, like so much in our world, is rather trivial – money, or rather their amount. Not a single employer, whether it is a private business or a civil service, is able to provide a level of income for its employees that is adequate to their needs (and even more so to requests). In fact, imagine that you are an employee with a monthly income (on your hands) of $ 1,000. If we assume that your income and prices are growing the same way (economists call this method of calculation “at current prices”), then in 20 years you will earn as much as 240 thousand dollars or about 8.5 million rubles. You will be able to buy 120 square meters of living space in the center of some Russian regional capital. Provided that you will not eat, drink or dress and will not start a family.
You can object to me that you are a more valuable employee and your income over time will amount to 3,000 dollars (or already amounts). There are also such salaries, but … This is where the second and more important reason for going into business lies. The fact is that with such a salary you cease to belong to yourself and become the “property” of the employer. Conditionally, of course, but there is little pleasant in it. I have often heard the phrase from the employees of one reputable corporation: “We are slaves … prom. And with a salary of even less than 2,000 dollars!
If you add up the above two reasons (search for money and search for freedom), then in total we get the most important life prize of an entrepreneur – independence. It is clear that not all people are ready (capable) for such a serious and risky step – to leave a quiet, calm haven (bird in hand) and go in search of a crane. Scientists have even determined the maximum share of potential entrepreneurs from the total number of working-age population – no more than 10-12%. I will not dispute these figures, I will only note that all of us in Siberia are descendants of immigrants, those who once took this serious and risky step a long time ago. And our grandfathers and great-grandfathers not only moved, but settled down and built everything that we use today.
Perhaps they were not entrepreneurs, but they were very enterprising people! And, of course, we also got a part of the “enterprising” genes. In Siberia, in my opinion, every fifth (if not more) has a propensity for entrepreneurial activity. I am convinced of this constantly, because in one of my areas of activity I cooperate with business support funds, and with universities, and simply (at seminars and trainings) with a large number of Siberians.
Many are convinced that an entrepreneur needs to be born, that it is necessary to have some special qualities – entrepreneurial “scent” and “chuiku”, and it is impossible to acquire them through training. But we will try!

Looking around, you will notice that in nature everything is subject to some rules, everything is natural. Nature always finds those standards for the supply of resources so that there is exactly as much as is required for growth and development.
In business (and just in life) there are the same facets, when neither more nor less can be done. You can not take more loans, you can not pay less wages, and more also can not. Here are just how to find out these proportions, these very faces. You will probably be surprised, but all this has long been known! Who has not heard of the famous 20/80 rule? It is also called the “Pareto Rule” – by the name of the author. If you have not heard, type in a search engine and read, he is over a hundred years old! No one could either prove it or disprove it. But everyone uses – entrepreneurs, marketers, economists, sociologists, politicians. Or about something else – that the price of a glass of water in the desert or, for example, on the shore of Lake Baikal, is “slightly” different. Or that all revenues from the created value (money earned) diverge in the “five wallets”.
For 10 years of practicing a business coach, I became convinced that the most significant thing that stops (scares) people on the road to entrepreneurship is the lack of knowledge of these elementary rules and regularities, this “multiplication table” of a business. And most of the mistakes in business are made for the same reason. So let’s take advantage of the opportunities for dialogue in this category and begin to learn something new and useful for each other.
